The beginning of January
found Marty O'Farrell and his wife Carrie and son Michael returning to Puerto Aventuras from their home in Belize.
Marty told me that he really wanted his wife to see in person some of the scenery that we had captured with his video camera in November.
We did some great dives into the Cenotes and visited the many turtles on my favorite ocean dive in Playa del Carmen. It was a real pleasure to spend some great days and evenings with some special new friends.
We look forward to their return and plan to visit them at their great resort in Belize.
Debbie was a fellow PADI Instructor Examiner with me for many years. She and her friends from Botswana, Africa visited me in late January and we had a great time snorkeling and seeing some of the sites in the Maya Riviera.
Barney, PJ and Nina Bestelink run a Horseback Adventure\Safari Trek company back in their homeland so they wanted to see what we have here while on holiday.
Every day I found them snorkeling or fly fishing right out in front of their condominium in the morning and then in the afternoon we did a few side trips to the dry caves of Acktun Chen and Hidden Worlds Cenote Park.
They had a great time a few hours drive south of us when they went bone fishing and exploring at Ascension bay. It was great to see Debbie again and meet her good friends. I am ready to go riding with all of them after listening to what they do for a living.
I just had the pleasure of working for a week in November with Marty O´Farrell from Ambergris Caye, Belize.
We had a great week together talking about Video theory, lighting, capturing audio, shooting techniques and editing.
A day of classroom and a pool session were followed by four days of cavern diving at the near by locations of Chac Mool, Aktun Ha, Grand Cenote and Hidden Worlds. We completed the course with a wonderful drift dive at Tortugas (The Turtle Reef) in front of Xcaret where we were able to interact with fifteen different and very large turtles.
Marty was a great student and he brought a lot of previous video knowledge and diving skills to his course.
